Rope League
New scoring system and format:
Rope League Structure:
At the start of the league each climber will set their Target Grade. This should be the highest grade you can send in a session after working out the moves. For example, if you can onsight 5.10c but you can climb an 11a after an attempt or two in just one session, you should put 5.11a down as your Target Grade.
Rope League is intended to be community-oriented with a primary focus on fun, with a moderate amount of competition. Our scoring system is designed to be fluid and will normalize everyone’s scores by the end of the league. We also reserve the right to adjust your Target Grade as necessary to keep the league light-hearted and fun and avoid any accidental gaming of the system.
Scoring:
Each member of the four-person team can contribute the scores from their three hardest sends to the overall team score. We will drop the two lowest scores from the team that night. So of the 12 possible scores, we only take the top 10 scores. This encourages you to try something harder than you usually climb, yet avoids any penalties in case you get too exhausted from that effort and don’t send.
To receive points for a route you must send it cleanly without any takes, and if you fall, then you must lower to the ground before starting again for it to count on your league sheets. We added Zones to this league so that you are able to push yourself and still get points for it. Zones will be the 5th clip. If you get to or clipped into (for lead) the 5th clip on each route you will get 20 points. You will not get the zone points if you top the route. You can only get 3 zone bonuses per week and they must be equal to or harder than your Target Grade.
The Routes:
*We will not be giving a lead bonus, this league. You can climb either lead or top rope. There will be more routes in the lead cave for people to climb!
Find the routes marked with ARL (Adult Rope League). There are at least two routes/grades marked and they change each week. You can try and project a route leading into an ARL night, but there’s no guarantee that route will be selected as the one that counts for points that week. Team scores will be pulled together each week on Monday, and remember, your final scores may be adjusted when Target Grades are normalized.
